Studio: Paint and Floors Jul 06 2010

FILED UNDER: Kids & Family, Studio

I feel like we're getting somewhere... Wes Sauter sprayed for us and Krisha Maistros came in to help me paint our accent wall. Alex Maistros, my dad Bill, Kevin Mitchell and Pete laid the floors in the front room. A really fun white washed plank to keep it light and airy. Tonight the rest of the painting on the other side occurs, then flooring on that side too. Plumbing will then go in to the bathroom and we should be able to pass the rest of our inspections. I am praying that tomorrow I will get a temporary furniture storage permit so I can move my stuff in this week!!!

Photos of the floor coming soon!

New Studio: Concrete, moving out and painting furniture Jun 30 2010

Well, the new photography studio in Westminster is really taking shape. I have some photos from last week when they guys poured concrete over some old exposed rock and dirt so we can seal off moisture. Many, many thanks to Shawn Collins for overseeing this work and to Craig Bowen, my Dad Bill, Dan Smith, Richard Miller and hubby Pete for busting tail in such a labor intensive job!!

Then the drywall came in!! Whoo hoo - skin on the skeleton! Finishing that this week and wall painting this weekend. (Gotta find those photos)

We moved out of my 14 N. Court St space on Wednesday. Justin Willet, Nicky Brown, Kevin Mitchell, Jared Nelson, Pete, Kari and I loaded a trailor in just about an hour. Funny how I can fill a space for 2 years and empty it in such short time.

Yesterday we sanded and painted some furniture for the new studio. Loving the look!! More photos to come!!!

Stu Stu Studio Jun 23 2010

For the past 2 years I have loved having my photography studio in a quaint little space in downtown historic Westminster. I have had beautiful tall ceilings with floor to ceiling windows and dark wood floors. A perfect space to view sessions and meet with clients and a fun little office to work in with Kari (my studio manager). But the time has come to expand. Shooting was just too tight at 14 N. Court St. So we are moving up the road... I gain space, I gain parking, I gain 8 some acres of both manicured lawns and wild country, barns and stone walls...and I'm part of the Roops Mill property now!

Forgive me if we are a little slow in returning calls and emails, we are in the midst of a crazy build out of the space at my busiest season. I never make anything easy, huh? Kari Smith is working overtime keeping this business running and helping us stay focused on the tasks at hand. Her husband Dan has been helping with some of the construction planning and so many more friends have been helping!!! Dave Bittner from Home & Deckworks is my chilled out laid back framer!! Craig Hovermale of C&H Electric is wiring our space, Shawn Collins is overseeing some concrete and cement work. Kevin Mitchell, Pete and Chris Merson have spent lots of hours prepping the space for drywall. Tina Jirout is holding my hand through the permit/inspection process and Kristen Gillis, Kacie Fogle and Tori Schuler helped cleaned the huge rock!!! The rock, so you wanna see the rock???

I know many of you have been asking about this space. I have a few photos I can post, and certainly I will show you the after photos as we progress. In the meantime, pray for our inspections to go well and stay on schedule. I have to be out of here next Wednesday!!
